By: Gary Thompson, Personal Injury Attorney
Meeting with a personal injury attorney for the first time can feel a little daunting. Many people worry, “What if I don’t bring the right paperwork?” or “What if I forget something important?” Let me put your mind at ease: you can never bring too much. The more you share, the better I can understand your case and start building a plan that works for you.
Here’s a practical checklist to get you started:
- Accident Information
- Police or incident reports
- Photos or videos from the scene
- Names and contact information of witnesses
- Medical Records
- Hospital or doctor visit summaries
- Test results and treatment plans
- Physical therapy notes
- Prescription lists
- Financial Documents
- Medical bills and receipts (including out-of-pocket expenses)
- Proof of lost wages or missed work
- Any insurance claim paperwork
- Personal Notes & Evidence
- A journal describing your pain, recovery, or limitations
- Texts, emails, or other communication about the accident
- Anything else that helps show how your daily life has been affected
Why This Matters
Details make a difference. Sometimes, a single photo or receipt can tip the scales in your favor when negotiating with insurance companies. Even if you’re unsure whether something is important – bring it along.
My Role
When we sit down together, I’ll go through everything you’ve brought and explain what’s useful. I’ll also let you know what additional information we may need and guide you on how to get it. My job is to take the legal burden off your shoulders so you can focus on what really matters: healing.
If you’ve been injured, don’t wait. Give me a call at (702) 383-6040 for a free consultation. We’ll go through your situation together, organize the details, and take the first step toward recovery and justice.
